This informal club meets every Tuesday from 3:00 – 4:00 and is open to every grade level. This club begins the first Tuesday in October and ends the last Tuesday in May. The purpose of the group is to have fun playing with words, using exercises to practice various aspects of creative writing, and sharing writing with an audience. Many of the activities are student-led and involve a brief discussion about an aspect of writing followed with a writing exercise to put the lesson into practice. Often, 5 or 10 minutes are reserved at the end of the meeting for students to share their writing.
This is a “free form” group, in that drop-ins, visitors, and irregular attendees are as welcome as the die-hard regular attendees. Club officers are elected each year (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Webmaster), and take strong leadership roles with regard to planning activities, guiding discussions, and shaping the club and activities for the year.
